Adar I 8

In the fortress Shushan lived a Jew by the name of Mordecai . . . a Benjaminite. . . . He was foster father to Hadassah -- that is, Esther -- his uncle's daughter, for she had neither father nor mother. Esther 2:5-7. The Writings--Kethubim: A new translation of The Holy Scriptures according to the Masoretic text, Third Section, The Jewish Publication Society of America, Philadelphia, 1982. Crayon on cardstock (photocopied as original is lost); edited on IrfanView.
The contemporary town of Susa, Iran is the site of Shushan.
Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America, is a volunteer women's organization founded in 1912 by Henrietta Szold, American Jewish scholar and activist, to support practical Zionism. The first meeting took place around the time of Purim, so the group adopted the name Hadassah. (Wikipedia)
I seem to have lost the original sketch of Mordecai. All I have is a black and white photocopy which I was able to soften on IrfanView by using the sepia effect, and then, "auto adjust color."
