Happy Purim! The key elements of celebration are: read the Megillah aloud; make lots of noise every time Haman's name is read; wear a costume, give gifts (mishloach manot) to friends; eat hamantaschen (triangular stuffed cookies in the shape of Haman's hat or pockets); give to the poor (tzedakah).
Purim always falls on the full moon. The names for the full moon of March are Fish Moon (Colonial American), Sleepy Moon (Chinese), Windy Moon (Cherokee), Big Famine Moon (Choctaw), Moon When Eyes Are Sore from Bright Snow (Dakotah Sioux), Moon of Winds (Celtic), Chaste Moon (English Medieval), and Death Moon (Neo Pagan). My favorite is the Dakotah Sioux. We have had tons of snow this winter and I feel like I have sore eyes from bright snow.
