Happy Birthday, Momma!

Today would have been my mother's 84th birthday. She was the youngest of seven children (5 girls, 2 boys). Here she is with all her sisters and her mom. I'm not sure of the occasion or location but they all look a bit dressed up and appear to be at a park or some such. My mom is standing behind her mother, my Grandma Fannie. That's their dog, Queenie, in my Aunt Celia's lap.
The notes with this photo indicate it was the fall of 1937. Since my mom's birthday was in November and they are outdoors without coats, I'm going to assume this was before my mom's birthday; that makes her 12 years old.
The notes with the photo say each one made her own dress. Talent is always a treasure; when you are poor, it can be a lifesaver. I'm wondering what color their dresses were. I'm guessing black or navy, but what do I know?! It looks like Celia and Grandma used the same trim on their dresses. I wonder what that round thing is on Celia's dress -- a pin? a cloth flower?
