Reverse Applique -- I Think

Reverse Applique?
After many months of doing nothing on my Dear Jane Quilt, I started a block last night and finished it today! It was a lot of work. I used two techniques: hand piecing and reverse applique or something like that. I don't totally understand how reverse applique is "supposed" to be done so I came up with my own method. I'm sure I'm using way more pins than most people (see below) and taking way too much time with it but it's done and I'm pretty happy with the block, H8 -Eaton's Crossroads.

Working from the Center Out
I wanted to make the center block first and work my way out from the center of the quilt so that I could see the relationship of the colors and fabric as I go. At one time, I did not have enough skills to do all the blocks in the center of the quilt. Over time, I have conquered that issue. Getting this block done fills in a "hole" at the first ring around the central block and that makes me happy. I've now completed 3 concentric diamonds around the central block.
Picture of Progress
I have a Word document with mini JPGs of my blocks so that I can see what the quilt looks like without putting all the blocks on a design wall. Does anyone know if Blogger and/or Flckr accepts PDF files? I have yet to purchase PhotoShop which would make this task much easier. I recently heard that some new software is coming out that will replace PS and that it's easier to use than PS. Has anyone heard anything about this?
