Rose and Vine

I could say this is one of my favorite pentagon flowers except that when you have lots of favorites, you have none.

Sometimes when I make these fussy cuts, I'm really not sure how all the pieces will work together until the whole flower is done. In this case, I was pleasantly surprised at how much the red vine reads like a continuous ring. One hopes for this effect but it does not always happen. (Click on the photo to enlarge it.)

And then there's that wonderful shade of red against the pink that reminds me of playing at my best friends's house after school. We were in early elementary school and his mom had a reclining chair (or upholsered rocker) that was covered in a velvet-like fabric of the same shade of red. Just looking at the colors and textures of this flower transports me right back to Marie's living room, 1950-something. Those are wonderful memories. I just saw Marie this fall. She's 90 years young, full of mischief, and I love her!

This is probably one of my favorites too! It reminds me of my Grandma's roses!

Thank you.

Beautiful! I love the way the small roses form a ring..and a sort of pinwheel effect. :)
