I visited my family in New York City a few weeks ago. Knowing there would be alot of quiet time together, I decided to bring my watercolors. I've been intrigued by this view ever since my mom moved into her apartment nearly 3 years ago. While I was there this month, we saw all kinds of weather outside her living room window -- including a tornado warning! [We were on the 16th floor of a building with a very slow elevator! As if that was not enough excitement, a few of us went out later that night and got soaked!]

I struggled to capture the complex patchwork formed by the many buildings, windows, and rooftop clutter. This is the second in a series of nine paintings (I'll spare you the first one.) As you will see later this week, I was most interested in the trees, water, land mass, and bridge in the distance. This painting is crude and busy but check out the cropped view at the top of this post. It's been edited on IrfanView, hence the new colors. It has a slim resemblance to the photo but it's a pleasing image, just the same.
