Deanie's Daisies

I'm back from another trip to NYC, the first since my mother died. She was greatly missed by your truly.

This Dear Jane block, F6 - Deanie's Daisies, was completed long ago. I wish the two fabrics provided a higher contrast to show off this great pattern. Still, as a 5x5 mosaic, it's rather pleasing anyway. It reminds me of an old-fashioned summer quilt or sheets. Just looking at this, I can smell the scent of cotton right after it's been ironed. The wide ivory bands create a gridwork that gives the 5x5 a feeling of harmony and stability, while the daisies add a light festive feeling. There's something very matter-of-fact but playful about this 5x5. I guess anything multiplied by 25, just becomes more of itself. That's what happens as we age, too, we just become more of whoever we are.
