Gasshō (合掌) -- A Type of Minka

Today's photo, from Keiko Stusnick, shows a cluster of minkas at Shirakawa-go. Their shape reminds me of Swiss chalets! Keiko says the village of Shirakawa-go is a great place to experience and learn about gasshō (literally clasped hands). According to Wikipedia, gasshōs are a type of minka. I love the kanji for this word (合掌); it contains a miniature house. Here are a few more links for other minka enthusiasts.
