BBG.Peony Trees.Part 1

The primary reason I wanted to go the Brooklyn Botanic Garden last week was to see the Peony tree collection in full bloom. Peonies are my favorite flower. The collection is a gift from the Japanese town of Yatsuka-Cho in Shimane Prefecture “to bring peace of mind to people in the United States” after the events of September 11, 2001.

The week of rain had taken it's toll, Peony petals covered the ground. Weighted with raindrops, many blooms bent over facing the ground. Here's one of the beauties that survived.
