First Row Is Done
Row A is all joined up -- plus a few additional blocks. Already, the quilt is spilling off the sides of my bed, so I ran it down the length of my bed.
Woven Sashing
As expected, the woven sashing does not show from a distance. I keep wondering why I'm bothering joining 169 blocks and 168 sashing pieces in a complex pattern. Typically, I sew half way down the 10-inch length, and then have to find the next block. Because of the interlocking of the pieces, I have not found a way to make sub-units. It may be easier to see if you click on the photo to enlarge it.
See the diagram for the sashing here.
Why All the Bother?
Why am I doing this? Oh yes, it saves a bit of fabric, it has a quieter look with no corner stones, and I like the idea of something subtle that might not be noticed by all. I probably should have pressed this before I took the photo. I do hope the woven sashing shows a bit more when the quilt is quilted.
