Gathering of Janiacs.Part 2

Stephanie Drake (r) and her Dear Jane quilt.
Read about the Gathering of Janiacs here.

Pretty in Pink
Stephanie Drake gets to see her Dear Jane quilt every day -- it's on her bed. I nicknamed it "Pretty in Pink" because I love the quieting effect of the monochromatic color scheme. I'm contemplating following her lead -- using solid fabrics for the triangles rather than piecing. If I go that route, I will probably piece the kites.

Border Detail: Stepanie Drake's Dear Jane Quilt
Techniques
Both machine and hand piecing techniques were used. The quilting was done in both machine quilting (along the edges of the sashing with invisible thread) and hand quilting (to fill in the details.)

Border
For the border of triangles, Stephanie used solid pieces of her fabrics. In the close-up photo, you can see how she used her hand quilting to emphasize the patterns in her fabrics. Very effective! Remember, you can enlarge the photos by clicking on them.
