The Sashing Begins

Beginning to join blocks for Row A
Note: More details on the woven sashing are here.

Woven
I started sewing together my blocks this week. Should we be surprised that I've decided to do something a bit complicated? The layout will emulate a woven pattern. The strips are 10 inches long -- except at the edges of the quilt where they are 5 inches long.

Diagram
See the diagram for the sashing here.

Row A
So far, I've joined pairs of blocks in the top row with 5-inch strips and then sashed those pairs with 10-inch strips along one side. Now it will get interesting!

sounds interesting, will it reduce the number of points where four blocks come together? i'll wait with interest to see your diagram, Are you joining them by hand?

Hi Sheila,
It means no cornerstones. It also means I save little bits of fabric here and there because some seams have been removed. This was my way to conserve fabric as I'm running out and also avoid cornerstones.
